Product Description

The USB-Mux is a USB-Multiplexer and a tool, to support the development of Embedded Linux devices.

The USB-Mux has three USB 2.0 ports, all serving different purposes:

  • The USB-Mux is intended to be used during the development of embedded devices with an USB 1.0, USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 Host or Device port or an USB OTG port.
  • The USB-Mux is intended to switch data- and power-supply-connections between the three USB ports present on the device.
  • For switching between the DUT and the host, the USB-Mux can be controlled via software (available on Github).

The USB Mux uses analogue switches and power transistors to establish and release connections between the ports. This allows, for example, automated workflows in which data is first transferred by the host to a USB stick at the device port, which is then made available to the DUT. For example, system updates can be tested automatically via USB stick. Another use case is the alternating connection of the DUT to the host port and the device port for testing the USB OTG functionality.
