Description

Optick is our prototype of a measurement system for measuring glass-to-glass latencies in systems for video processing. The idea for this came from the daily work of our parent company Pengutronix: During development on the Linux graphics stack, the latency from the camera to the screen (camera glass to screen glass) is an important factor.

Optick measures the time between turning on an LED in front of the DUT's camera and displaying the light on the DUT's screen. The measurements are carried out with a resolution of 21 ns and the accuracy of the crystal oscillator on the device. Optik is controlled via the LXA IOBus. The LXA IOBus uses CAN for communication and is therefore particularly robust in everyday use. A command line tool is available in the LXA IOBus server to control the Optick.

Important: The Optick is a prototype that we want to use ourselves to find out the range of functions such a device actually has to have. But since we're certainly not the only ones who need to measure glass-to-glass latencies, we want to make the device available here.
